Shenghong Petrochemical approved as the first pilot unit for "Zero-Waste Group" development in Jiangsu Province's petrochemical industry

Recently, with the formal approval of the Lianyungang Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment, Shenghong Petrochemical has been designated to pioneer the development of a "Zero-Waste Group." This approval makes Shenghong Petrochemical the first enterprise in both Lianyungang City and the petrochemical industry of Jiangsu Province to receive such a designation. It serves as an authoritative recognition of the Group’s long-standing commitment to green development, fills a gap in the "Zero-Waste Group" initiative among large-scale industrial enterprises in Lianyungang, and establishes a benchmark for the green transition of the petrochemical industry across the entire province.

The "Zero-Waste Group" initiative is a key component of Jiangsu Province’s broader "Zero-Waste City" strategy, designed to encourage enterprises to establish a full-lifecycle management system for solid waste—from generation to final disposal. As part of this pilot program, Shenghong Petrochemical will systematically implement a comprehensive, end-to-end framework covering "source reduction, resource utilization, disposal optimization, and risk prevention and control." At the source, the company will optimize production processes and raw material pathways to effectively minimize the generation of solid waste, such as high-boiling-point waste liquids and spent desulfurization agents. Regarding resource utilization, it will develop a scientific, tiered assessment system to enhance the conversion efficiency of by-products like fly ash and tar. Furthermore, the company will explore shared mechanisms for hazardous waste disposal facilities and leverage a smart management platform to ensure effective, full-process tracking and risk management of all solid waste.

This approval represents not only trust and a significant mandate but also a profound responsibility for Shenghong Petrochemical. As a frontrunner in regional industrial green transition and a pioneer within the sector, the Group will fully harness its industrial chain and technological strengths to advance the pilot program—ensuring that risks remain strictly controlled. In the process, it will document innovative, replicable, and scalable practices, offering a "Shenghong Solution" for solid waste management across related industries.

This innovative endeavor will not only elevate the level of green development within the Lianyungang petrochemical industrial base but also chart a new path for the broader petrochemical industry toward a circular economy—characterized by a "resources–products–recycled resources" model—thereby contributing the "Shenghong contribution" toward China’s strategic goals of reaching peak carbon emissions and achieving carbon neutrality.
